I maybe late to the party for this one, but the other page i was looking at mobile phones (as i am out of contract soon) and discovered that you can download and use Skype on mobile phones now. I have been a PC skype user for many years as i am not really a fan of Windows Messenger. I normally use Skype to keep in touch with people i work with instead of using emails as its fast and i don’t really want to pay to use it for call to other phones or landlines.
Skpye for mobiles is a great idea for anyone who uses an kind of pay as you go phones as it pretty much gives you free calls. the only draw back is that you need the person you are calling to have skype too, but if everyone spreads the word then we could all have free calls, which can only be a good thing.
To use Skype on your mobile you will have to either use a previously set up account, or set up a separate account (what i would do tbh) and then add all for your friends. The set up and contact adding is nice and simple and should really only take you about 15mins to complete (depending upon the amount of friends you have of course).
I would say check it out if you have a newish phone, chances are if you have bought a 3g phone in the last 6 months your handset will be able to use Skype and if you have any kind of smart phone or iPhone then you definitely be able to use it. Even if you don’t know anyone with it on their phones its a handy little piece of software to have to encourage your friends to download and get free calls too.

Well, not quite as advanced, but still pretty cool, and its not the Japanese that are developing it, its the US (not really surprising, with their love of war and all).
This news video from the BBC reports on the development of a robot suit that gives the user super human strength. There are still some problems (like speed of movement) but the US army say there could be a descendant of the technology in place on the front line (move ammunition and supplies) in 8 years.

Now, i’m not usually interested in vacuum cleaners, but the other day i went into Curry’s with my girlfriend to take back a tv that we thought was broken (it wasn’t int he end). While we waited for the sales guy to test the tv i was looking around and saw this funky little Dyson. I’m not too sure how to explain what it looks like, other then saying it looks like a little toy gun, and being dyson I would have thought it was pretty powerful.
Anyway, here a link to the Dyson site, its called the Dyson DC16 Root 6 and they say it has “twice the suction of other handhelds”, I’m not too sure about that, as the disply one in Curry’s didn’t work, but it was really light, and would be ideal for cleaning the interior of my car.
I have done some searching of other blogs and the only real downfall i can see is the charge doesn’t last too long, which could be a pain in the butt, but if you only want to quickly clean up the inside of your car you don’t need to spend hours.
It is £99 though, so i don’t think i’ll be trying one out for the time being, but maybe if they come down to about £60-70 i might be tempted.
Anyone have one of these little beasts?? Are they actually any good??

Well like many people in the UK I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for the European release of Sony’s new console the Playstation 3. But even though the US and Japan are already enjoying blue ray high deff gaming, we in the UK have to wait till either the first or second week in march 2007 (or so its rumoured http://threespeech.com/blog/?p=219 ).
I know that the US and Japan usually get games and console before Europe, but there’s been a massive gap between the US and Jap release and the up and coming UK release.
Anyway, it looks like when the PS3 is release in the UK it will be £425 or less, and it will only be available in the 60gb version, not the 20gb that is out in the US and Japan.
I’ll try and keep up to date on more info on the UK release.
Cheers
Dave
