Climate Camp - Camping for Climate Change

Camping for Climate Change

Look out Climate Campers, I heard that those who dress up in riot gear and crash your demos are out and about again. Make sure you’re prepared with proper german.jpgcamping equipment. Be careful and keep the cameras pointing at them, you know how they like to cause trouble.

Climate Camp causes chaos for commuters

Yes, of course. Your average commuter route is far more important than, say, mass pollution and the right to protest.

Of course it isn’t but why then go out of their way to make an already difficult commute even harder? It doesn’t add any value or strengthen the climate change cause, it just pisses off tens of thousands of workers trying to get home. Ordinary people, who for the most part, need to be convinced by argument and logic, not by having their long days made worse by people shouting slogans in their faces and policed crowds blocking streets.

By “fu**ing off” the workers, it might just get the message through to the apathetic millions, whose compliance with the industrial system is a major part of the problem. Besides, standing outside a quarry with a placard won’t do much. In the 24-hour multimedia age, interest groups have to come up with more novel ways to grab attention.

What are you doing about global warming?

Are you merely agreeing that something needs to be done, but it’s someone else’s job?

Boy likes Sexy Lingerie? Nothing Interesting Plays Agony Aunt

Is it wrong that a young chap has a passion for sexy lingerie?

men-in-panties.jpgTaken from the Guardian this week.

My wife has had some items of clothing go missing over the last few months, which baffled us. A few weeks ago, she went into our 15-year-old son’s bedroom while he was at school and discovered a heap of sexy lingerie and womens clothing in his closet: lingerie including bras, knickers, tights, sports bras, swimsuits and sports skirts. We have no idea how to deal with this situation.

We asked our experts Dave and Dave to respond

Dave number 1 replies:

There are support organisations for guys who like to cross dress and opportunities to meet others who do the same thing. There is literature around that can help him understand his interest and also to help parents to understand. His cross dressing may be a private erotic fetish or it may be something that he wishes to express socially. There are places to go in different parts of the country and stuff on the internet. It is a complex subject and different people cross dress for different reasons. A small but important number may be interested in changing gender but most cross dressers are not. He deserves calm supportive parents to encourage him to find out what his interests are without them jumping to any conclusions themselves. Let him experiment without shame.

Dave G says:

You say later in your cry for help:

Doing nothing doesn’t feel right and anyway, my wife would like her clothes back.

I’m guessing that if you can make a joke as wonderfully dry as this, you’re probably going to cope with things ok.

Twitter needs a new first vowel!

Following on from the government employing another member of the Russian royal family (surely there is only one Tsar at a time?), as head of online campaigning for the Labour party, I couldn’t help wondering what a waste of time this all is. Bristol East MP Kerry McCarthy has been appointed to get the Labour message across to Britain’s internet nation in time for the next election. This means that she and her minions will be utilising Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites as investments in their cause.

However, if you are going to campaign for a political party, using Twitter to put your policies forward isn’t a good idea unless you are simply linking to a blog or website. For a start, a 140 character limit will highlight any transparency or lack of policy if it can be posted there in it’s entirety! Additionally, the majority of people who post on Twitter are not concerned with politics, just obsessed with pushing the mundane aspects of their daft lives on other people.

“Hi guys, just going to bed with my copy of Gordon’s biography. Ciao!”

I don’t think so, do you?

Van Hire Demand Lights Up Property Market

The property market has been in a rut since the beginning of the recession. But rumors are surfacing that things may be moving again.
Should Have Hired A Van

Its rumored that a huge increase in demand for van hire over the past 2 months is indicating that the property market is about to bounce back. House prices have also slightly increased over the past 2 months providing further evidence that the worst might be over at last.

So if you have been holding out on buying a house, now might be the time. Van hire is clearly in demand at the moment so its a good idea to book early. Make sure you get a van that is rugged when moving things like furniture. You don’t want to end up being charged because your sofa put a dent in the side. According to Fleet Directory, prices in London can be found from as little as £29 per day, but it pays to get the right van for your needs. At the end of the day, the only way house prices are really going to bounce back is if we start buying houses. Although do try not to get a mortgage you cant afford to pay, that’s how we got in this mess in the first place.
