In today’s health conscious world we are always looking into our diet, systematically checking the backs of packets, calorie counting, learning about E numbers and why we eat what we do. However many of us are ignoring another strong link in our general health, a good nights sleep.

While eating smart is nothing interesting its always a good idea we should also remember that we spend a third of our lifetime sleeping! Consider how to arrange your bedroom for the full benefit from quality beds.

We spend more of our life in bed then anywhere else, so comfort and support is a key factor to making sure your body feels refreshed and rested. Your sleep pattern can have a drastic effect on your mood, productivity, energy and stress levels; a night of sleepless tossing and turning can effect end up having a negative impact on the relationship of those around you personally and professionally.

It’s important to account the health benefits both short and long term of a great mattress, it’s one of the most important decisions you will make, so it’s worth investing your money wisely.  Buying a new mattress might seem like an expensive and hassle filled task, but if you break it down a good quality double bed will end up only costing you around 10p per night each, over the average period of its lifetime.

So experts recommend buying a new bed every 8 - 10 years. However our needs and preferences alter over time, too - changes in lifestyle or physical conditions also affect our bed requirements.

Not only does the mattresses orthopaedic state deteriorate over time, but there is the eventual build up of dust mites, dead skin, and general grim that will slowly build up in your mattress. These can lead to allergies and breathing difficulties. So its not recommend you purchase mattresses second hand or use hand me downs unless you just need a spare to use on occasion that is not used as the primary bed you sleep in.

Car Shortage

Perhaps one way to achieve reduction in carbon emissions is to allow the motor industry to grind to a halt and create a car shortage.

Earlier this year we discused motoring and the effect cars have on climate change and explored the latest ideas for eco cars that would have tiny carbon emissions.  It appears that once again the ever so influential  Nothing Interesting was ahead of the game and where we lead, lost governments follow.

The  UK government has rushed through a car scrappage scheme that is intended to boost sales of new cars by offerring money to scrap your old banger. The theory is that any car older than ten years (is THAT ALL) will be “worth” £2kif it is doomed and disposed of throught the scrappage system.

Some car dealers in the UK claim they aren’t yet ready to joint the scrappage party - pressumably hoping that economic upturn is nearby.

Car shortages throughout Europe.

Recently we picked up this titbit from travel industry organisation TTgLive who report that popular holiday destinations will suffer a shortage of hire cars this summer. One astute commenter rsuggested that hire car companies were playing to holidaymakers fears of a ruined break without a holiday auto.  Car rental firms such as Hertz, Avis and reallycheapcarhireineurope.com are all encouraging early booking to secure a car.

Car Shortage Dirty tricks - car hire in spain to cost more?

In Spain car hire companies are actually considering increasing the rental tarifs and by posting spurious user messages on travel forums seem to be successfully boosting their advance bookings.

As many of these car rental agencies operate throughout Europe it is likely that the premium for car hire in Spain will be mirrored elsewhere hitting hard up holiday makers hard.

Here we focus on choosing lingerie and flowers - choose both as a gift and should the undies be unwelcomed the flowers will quickly erase any annoyance.

Lingerie

Remember some of the simple tips - sneak a pair of your ladies panties that she has worn recently (ie they fit!) and take them with you to the shop so you definately are choosing the right size.

In a specialist lingerie shop its easy to get carried away - don’t! A bra is a very personal item of lingerie and finding one that suits both style and comfort is a task best left to a woman.

If you feel that buying a hot knickers as a gift is inappropriate thn choose flowers.

Flowers

Giving flowers as a gift needs careful thought too.  Many girls now complain that the wide availability of cheap bunches of flowers at convenience stores and petrol stations devalues the gift.  See this totty’s column at the Daily Telegraph explaining her disgust at a thoughtless delivery of flowers.
