xmas shopping

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

Well, it is indeed that time again.

Time to dig deep and shop until you drop.

Though, i am not a fan of shopping tbh, so this year i have decided to try and do all my shopping now, and online. This might even save me money if i but from the right places.

So i have been trying out some price comparison sites lately to see how and infact if they work at all. I have stumbled upon a comparison site called SaveBuckets (within the ocean of comparison sites on the net). As well as having everything that i searched for, it also has some funky features attached to help you save money. For exaple if you find something on the site, but its a bit more then your willing to pay, you can give savebuckets your email address and the price your willing to pay, and they will mail you when it come into your price range.

So thats the Christmas shopping taken care of my girlfriend. Now i just have to think about what to buy the rest of my family lol. I was thinking about getting my dad a bottle of Gleniddich , but i don’t know which one to get? I didn’t know there where so many different types. Theres even a 50 year old blend that costs £5,000. He’ll have to buy that one himself lol.

Audi supermini

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

I have just been looking through the Audi site and spotted this press release on a new “design study” from Audi paying homage to Japan’s flair for miniaturisation. The concept is for a supermini that fits in between the A3 and the A2 , its going to be powered by a combination of a more powerful version of the 1.4 TSFI petrol engine found in the current A3, and a 30kw/41ps electric motor driving the rear wheels, reducing the fuel consumption by up to 15%. With this engine combo the car will be propelled to 62 in 7.8 seconds, and reach 124mph, and still get 57.6mpg. Now that sounds pretty good to me.

The article on the new Audi supermini concept is here if you wish to read more.

here are some of the concept images,

Winter blues

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

Well, its seems that Winter is upon us all once again, and it seems that a depression is sweeping the nation (well, around Exeter anyway) and infecting people like the common cold.

I too at the beginning of this week felt the bite of the Winter blues, for no reason what so ever i felt down, and a bit sorry for myself. Now, I’m not really one of those people that worry about things, or get stressed or depressed, so this was a weird occurrence. Luckily it was only for a day, and after a good nights sleep i was back to my happy annoying self again lol.

But then, yesterday my girlfriend came down with the blues too, staying upset all day, and when asked why she didn’t know. then i thought, my friend that i live with had a “down” weekend a couple weeks ago too. He too didn’t know why, but he was moaping about and generally unhappy.

I’ve not really got a point, or a leason at the end of this post, just beware of the Winter blues, and if you feel yourself coming down (or feeling down) with it, stay away from me lol.

price of petrol

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Once again, lately the price of petrol has been creeping up towards the £1 mark, and this morning I heard that an independant research company announced that the countries average price for a litre of unleaded is now 100.08p.

I know what oil prices have been rising of late as well (breaking the $98 mark with a weak dollar), which is probably the reason for the increase in petrol prices, but how much tax and duty do the government take in every £1 spent on fuel? Well, heres a little images that shows exactly that…

petrol cost breakdown

I think its amazing that the government take over 65% of every pound spent on petrol. How can the roads in the UK be so bad, pot holed and bumpy if we are paying so very much for the privilege to keep our cars running (and thats not including road tax etc). Just think of the amount of money thats spend on fuel everyday throughout the whole of the UK, and then think that 65% of that goes to the government. What are they doing with it?? (probably paying our MP’s expenses).

Rant over.
