more reason to buy a road angel,

Like many people in the UK i have got a road angel, which was bought for my by my kind and loving girlfriend for xmas this year. I haven’t really used it too much as i have only really been traveling to and from her house and to and from work, but i am alomst looking forward to the next longer trip i take so i can uses it properly.

The main reason i wanted a road angel was to look after my lisence as it already has 6 points on it and i can’t really afford to have anymore, i don’t race everywhere, or speed everywhere (i like to think i’ve grown out of that) but its not hard to be going 5mhp over the limit and get snapped by a hidding camera.

Now, i read here recently that the insurance broker yesinsurance.co.uk are going to start the “UK’s first full-scale test of the benefits of an in-car safety camera and accident blackspot warning systems”. If there report finds that Road Angel users are safer drivers and a better insurance risk, users could find themselves with lower premiums on their car insurance.

Heres a qoute from the article:

“Research involving a 1 million mile fleet test has so far indicated that business drivers using Road Angel have 50 pr cent fewer accidents and are around 70 per cent less likely to receive endorsements on their licence.”

It looks promising, but i guess we’ll have to see what happens. And whether other insurance companies will follow suit is unknown, but i don’t see why not. I look foward to their findings.

Dyson handheld???

Dyson DC16 Root 6Now, i’m not usually interested in vacuum cleaners, but the other day i went into Curry’s with my girlfriend to take back a tv that we thought was broken (it wasn’t int he end). While we waited for the sales guy to test the tv i was looking around and saw this funky little Dyson. I’m not too sure how to explain what it looks like, other then saying it looks like a little toy gun, and being dyson I would have thought it was pretty powerful.

Anyway, here a link to the Dyson site, its called the Dyson DC16 Root 6 and they say it has “twice the suction of other handhelds”, I’m not too sure about that, as the disply one in Curry’s didn’t work, but it was really light, and would be ideal for cleaning the interior of my car.

I have done some searching of other blogs and the only real downfall i can see is the charge doesn’t last too long, which could be a pain in the butt, but if you only want to quickly clean up the inside of your car you don’t need to spend hours.

It is £99 though, so i don’t think i’ll be trying one out for the time being, but maybe if they come down to about £60-70 i might be tempted.

Anyone have one of these little beasts?? Are they actually any good??

one more thing onto the list

As i mentioned in my last post, i’m getting my car ready to sell it and buy something newer with more mod cons the my old mk2 Golf.

Well, on my list of things to do was to sort out my blowing exhaust, but last night while driving home from my girlfriends house last night i heard more noise then usual, and then, suddenly, i head some more knocking soudns and then a scrapping sounds from the back of the car. I looked behind me and saw my exhaust slidding across the road.

So i had to stop and run back to go and pick up my backbox so onone ran it over, threw it in my boot and drove home lol.

i couldn’t help but laugh, i knew it was pretty bad, but i didn’t expect it to fall off completely lol.

Oh well, looks like i’ll need a new backbox now lol.

Selling cars…

As i said in my first post one of my interests is my car, and cars in general.

Currently I am getting my old mk2 Golf GTI ready to sell, manly just because i want something different after having the car for over 2 year (probably longer tbh) and wanting and change of pace.

The thing is that I have never really sold a car privately before (I sold my first car to my dad lol) and I’m wondering if anyone had any tips on successful selling??

The problem I have is that I’m too honest, I can’t help but let the buyer know exactly what problems I know the car has etc (and its an old car, so it has some lol). This may sound good, but I’m afraid I’m going to scare people out of buying the car. So is there anything I shouldn’t say??

I’ll keep you all updated on the developments on selling the car, all I need to do is sort out a small problem with the clutch, and change the backbox (its blowing) and then wait till march to put 12months mot on it and I’ll be ready :S lol.

Cheers
